A Selma woman is behind bars on several charges after allegedly threatening the victim of a 2013 shooting that her son was reportedly involved in.
LeKeisha Prince was arrested for intimidating a witness, attempted assault first degree and harassment in connection a July 11 incident where Prince threatened bodily harm to a victim of a shooting on Hardie Avenue, which occurred in March 2013. Prince’s son, Lamarious Prince, was one of seven suspects arrested in connection with the March 2013 shooting.
LaKeisha spotted the victim near the victim’s residence at the same time as Lamarious appeared in court for a bond hearing, according to a Selma Police Department release.
The release stated that LaKeisha tried to ram the victim’s vehicle with her own. The impact caused the victim’s vehicle to stop and LeKeisha threatened bodily harm to the victim if charges against her son weren’t dropped within 45 minutes, according to the release.
“After the judge advised certain parts of the probation of him being released on bond was denied, she went to the witness’ residence and threatened them, threatened that if they come and testified or didn’t drop the charges they would do them bodily harm,” Lt. Curtis Muhannad, with the Selma Police Department, said.
Lamarious was one of several suspects in the Hardie Avenue shooting. In March 2013, Chief of Police William Riley said the Hardie Avenue shooting began with arguing, but soon resulted in a number of people shooting semi-automatic rifles and handguns.
On Tuesday, Prince remained in her house after several attempts from family members and the police department to get her to leave the residence.
“We also allowed the grandmother of Prince to try and talk her out,” Muhannad said. “Also, I received a phone call in reference to Ms. Prince and received her phone number, and I called her and talked to her to her personally to get her to come out and let her know we were outside.”
After attempting to get Prince out of her residence, officers were sent to retrieve a search warrant. Before the warrant was on the scene, local attorney Rose Sanders was allowed into the house after saying she was Prince’s attorney. Muhannad said he couldn’t confirm that Sanders was Prince’s attorney. Police allowed Sanders to speak with Prince in order to make the arrest, Muhannad said.
The Selma Police Department made a successful warrant arrest on Prince after Sanders went into the residence.
Prior to Tuesday’s warrant arrest, Prince was out on bail for a charge of attempted murder against her ex-boyfriend.
