Three members of a Jones family are behind bars at the Dallas County Jail and facing charges connected with the repeated rape of an underage female relative.
Jeremy Swann and his wife Amanda Swann, both 29 and reside at 535 Dallas County Road 835 in Jones, are both facing charges of rape first degree and $500,000 bond for the rape of Amanda’s relative.
Dallas County Sheriff’s Department investigator Janet Cole said the victim had been raped multiple times over the past month.
“They propositioned her to have sex with Jeremy so that she could get pregnant, and so she could have a baby for them,” Cole said. “The victim told us it happened at least six times.”
Cole said the couple had filed a complaint with the Department of Human Resources, stating they wanted full custody of the victim because Amanda’s mother was sexually assaulting her.
“While the DHR was there investigating those charges, the girl told investigators that Amanda and Jeremy had been sexually assaulting her,” Cole said.
Cole said investigators were told about the girl’s claim by the DHR representatives.
Jeremy’s mother, Dianna Swann, 57, who lives with the couple, was also arrested Thursday, and has been charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as authorities believe she knew of rape.
“She was present when all the sexual acts were going on,” Cole said. “She was there. She heard the girl screaming, and she did nothing.”
Dianna is being held at the jail on a $6,000 bond.
Cole said cases like this are among the most difficult she has to deal with at her job.
“It can be really hard to deal with, especially when you have children of your own. It’s just difficult.
Cole said could the couple face additional charges, including enticing a child and incest.
The three suspects are scheduled to have bond hearings Monday.
