CENTREVILLE — Bibb County used three rushing touchdowns from T.J. Bell Friday to defeat Dallas County 42-20.
Bell had a fantastic night, carrying the ball 17 times for 131 yards in the Bibb County win. Bell scored twice on 3-yard runs and also on a 4-yard run.
It was a disappointing night for the Hornets, who turned the ball over several times.
“We as coaches have got to do a better job to put our kids in position where we are not shooting ourselves in the foot,” Dallas County head football coach Marty Smith said.
The Choctaws’ quarterback Watson Fondren was 6-of-13 in passing with 92 yards and no interceptions.
Fondren connected with Ralph Westbrook for a 41-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. Westbrook also scored on a 20-yard run in the first half. Westbrook ended the game with two receptions for 61 yards and he also had an interception on defense. Bibb County’s Markise Leverette scored on a 12-yard run in the first quarter.
Dallas County’s scoring came on runs of 56 and 14 yards from Xavier Knight and a 28-yard run by Anthony Oliver.
“There were some good things that happened tonight,” Smith said. “But to play the way we want to play we cannot lay the ball on the field and be successful.”
Dallas County will host Central Tuscsaloosa next week.
