It’s time to get your annual flu shot

It’s that time of year again.

Everybody can thank cooler temperatures for a case of the sniffles as the leaves begin to change colors and we all break out our jackets for the first time in months. For most of us, a sneeze here and there this month is probably due to a minor cold or even allergies because of the change of seasons, but many others will be hit with an unfriendly case of the flu.

The Center for Disease Control recommends getting a flu vaccine by October, but it’s not too late. Flu season usually peaks around January, meaning there’s still time to get protected.

We definitely relate to those that hate getting a shot so much that they avoid a flu shot like the plague, but it’s worth it. The flu affects thousands of Americans each year and is very unpredictable. The CDC said how severe the flu is can change from year to year depending on many factors, including which flu viruses are spreading and how much vaccine is available.

Plus, the elderly, young children and pregnant women are at risk for serious complications if they contract the flu.

Let’s all do the safe thing and get vaccinated. It’s a small way to keep yourself healthy this fall.
