Two single-vehicle wrecks since Saturday have claimed the lives of two young adults.
Latoya Blount, 29, was killed Saturday when the vehicle she was driving left the roadway and overturned on Summerfield Road.
The crash occurred around 11 a.m. when the southbound vehicle reportedly swerved into the northbound lane and then swerved back to the right to avoid an oncoming vehicle, said Sergeant Roy Nix, Selma traffic division commander.
The vehicle left the roadway, becoming air born.
“Witnesses say the vehicle flipped over several times … ejecting the driver,” Nix said.
No other vehicles were involved and no additional injuries were reported.
No further information is available, as Nix said the department is continuing to investigate.
Funeral services for Blount are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist in Selma.
Ryan McDowell, 20, was killed Tuesday morning around 5:45 a.m. when the Nissan Titan he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree, according to Chilton County Coroner, Awlahjaday Agee.
The crash occurred at the 4900 block of Highway 22 in Stanton. The accident remains under investigation.
