Tornado confirmed in Perry County

A brief tornado touched down early Monday morning in Perry County, packing winds of 100 miles per hour.
The Birmingham National Weather Service has completed storm surveys and found the tornado formed a few hundred yards west of Boots Northcutt Road, north of Alabama 14 in western Perry County, at about 1:11 a.m.
As it crossed the road to the east, the tornado tossed numerous unsecured objects around a home and into nearby woods, where a few hardwood trees were snapped.
The twister tracked to the northeast across inaccessible land before crossing Lower Polecat Road. Numerous hardwood and softwood trees were snapped and tossed into an open field.
The tornado crossed more inaccessible land and weakened as it crossed County Road 23 and soon dissipated, just four minutes after it touched down.
The EF-1 twister was on the ground for 3.5 miles and was 300 yards across at its widest point.
Another two tornadoes were reported Monday in the Birmingham National Weather Service’s coverage area.
A short-lived EF-1 tornado was reported in Russell County northeast of Pittsview near the Alabama and Georgia line.
The longest tornado struck in Pike County north of Troy. There an EF-1 twister with 90 mph winds carved out a path 24.7 miles long.
No injuries were reported from the tornadoes. The storms also packed heavy rain with parts of Bibb, Jefferson and Shelby counties receiving more than 5 inches of rain.
