Steve and Rudy Gatlin of the Gatlin Brothers will be performing in Selma Friday as the headliners for a benefit concert.
The concert, benefiting the Dallas County Family Resource Center and the Joshua House, is being held at Crosspoint Christian Church at 7 p.m.
“It is a fundraiser for charity,” said James Thomas, executive director of the Dallas County Family Resource Center. “All proceeds are going to assist the Dallas County Family Resource Center and the Joshua House.”
The Joshua House is a project of Teen Challenge to help with men entering back into society.
“The Joshua House is a halfway house that is going to be run by Teen Challenge,” Thomas said. “People who have come out of inpatient rehab can stay at the Joshua House and be in a structured environment to help prepare them to go back into society.”
Thomas said the funding from the concert is going to be a big help for the house, and he is looking forward to what good it is going to bring the community.
“The Joshua House is still under construction, and they are in need of some support to be able to finish the construction and get things up and running,” Thomas said. “This benefit [concert] to them is crucial.”
The concert will also benefit the resource center, which has several different classes to help people.
“It is such a blessing to be here and to be a part of God’s work,” Thomas said. “Just in the short period of time I’ve been here, I’ve already seen the Lord’s hand in so much.”
Reign, a local band that plays at Crosspoint Christian Church, will be opening for the Gatlin Brothers.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Family Resource Center and Crosspoint Church.
