The American Legion is a veteran’s organization devoted to service and is the biggest wartime veterans assistance group.

Post Adjutant John Coon said Selma American Legion Post 20 is an organization of former men and women who’ve served in the military.

The group puts on its cooking gloves annually to sponsor youth baseball teams. It also donates flags to schools that may need new ones. In order to complete service projects, Coon said the organization needs the help of the community.

“We depend on the community supporting the stew sale, in order to give back to the community,” he said.

Coon said orders have already been filing in for about two to three weeks.

American Legion Third Vice Commander Charlie Friday said people can hop in line to get some of the 800 quarts of stew produced at 12 p.m. Friday.
