Dear editor,

I have learned since my column’s publishing that reports of the actual number of registered voters at times vary.

The account used in my column reported eight. Regardless, the point of the article is the sacrifice and courage of the men and women who stood against injustice.

The words are intended to inspire today’s residents to consider their roles in the continuum of history, with a recognition that each of us has a role to play and a responsibility that could inspire generations to come.
