Letter thanks Hughes and Prayer Furnace team

Dear editor,

This has been a significant week for Selma, a city whose name means throne. On March 14, the Prayer Furnace group from Birmingham, led by Paul Hughes, came to our city to pray and worship, praying for Selma specifically, for three weeks.  Think of that, fellow Selmians: Our city being lifted before God’s throne in prayer daily by a group of individuals who do not even live here! Many college students are giving up their spring break in order to come and participate in this undertaking. We had the privilege to house two young men from the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, Missouri this week.

Thank you to Paul Hughes and his Prayer Furnace team for this undertaking and to all the young folks who have come and will come. On Monday a tent was set up at Bloch Park.

Everyone is invited to come and encounter the wonderful atmosphere there.

God is on His throne and is smiling at the outpouring of worship, fellowship, love, and adoration happening in the tent. If you have not had a chance to go, please go before they leave April 4. Talk it up in your congregation and invite others who live here to participate. It is a blessing.

The light shining from Paul Hughes’ eyes speaks to his service to the living God and his servant’s heart toward the things of God. Thank you, Mr. Hughes, brother Hughes, for spearheading this blessing to Selma. Thank you.
