Busy month in Selma

What a weekend it was in Selma.
NFL star Michael Johnson held his sixth annual football and cheer youth camp and the Butterflies and Bridges run benefitted the Selma High School athletics programs. It was a great way to end a week where many of us were stuck inside far too often due to terrible weather.
Around 100 people took part in the run as people came from all around to help the Saints’ athletics programs.
Over double that amount of children took part in Johnson’s camp, which is his way of giving back to the city that helped groom him into the person he is today.
We’ve written before about how Johnson serves as a role model for area youth — a title he seems to understand and wear well.
Hopefully this past weekend is a sign of things to come for Selma weather wise. Forecasts show little rain expected this week, meaning it should be a dry and enjoyable weekend for those attending the Rock n’ Ribs cook off Saturday or the Battle of Selma re-enactment.
We encourage all to enjoy what should be a beautiful spring week in Selma as we all try to make up for time we lost last week.
