Two Selma teens were shot overnight Thursday while they were walking down L.L. Anderson Avenue.
According to a press release from Lt. Curtis Muhannad with the Selma Police Department, officers responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m. April 30 about two gunshot victims.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old. Both had been shot with what investigators believe to be a revolver.
According to Muhannad the 17-year-old victim had a gunshot wound to his left leg and lower back. The 19-year old had a gunshot wound to his left arm.
“The victims informed officers that they were walking in the area when a black male, unknown to them, approached them wearing a black hoodie and white shorts and began opening fire at them,” Muhannad said.
Muhannad said both victims were transported to the emergency room at Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The 17-year-old was airlifted to a Birmingham hospital for further treatment, but Muhannad said he is in stable condition.
According to Muhannad, the 19-year-old victim was released from the hospital earlier today and is doing fine after investigators spoke with him about the shooting.
“A motive for the shooting has not been determined,” Muhannad said. “The shooting is still under investigation.”
The Selma Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the case to call Crime Stoppers at 874-2588 or 1-866-442-7463. Calls will be made confidential and people could receive cash awards for giving information regarding the case.
