Samuel Noogen Crews, 67, of Prattville, passed away Tuesday June 9, 2015. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 13 at 2 p.m. at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel with pastor Bill Tucker officiating.
Sam was born June 9, 1948, in Demopolis to the late Rex and Mildred Kane Crews.
He graduated from Orrville High School and attended Livingston State College. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam War/Conflit serving his country from 1968 to 1972.
After his military service he joined the Hammer Mill Paper Company in 1972 and retired in 2009 after 37 years of in the Power House Operation at the Selma location.
He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Orrville where he was baptized in 1962 and later joined Glenwood Baptist Church in Prattville.
Sam is survived by two brothers, Joe M. Crews and his wife Paula of Tuscumbia and James R. Crews of Pell City; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Linda (James’ wife) on June 2, 2015.
Sam donated his remains as an anatomical gift for medical science.
