According to Lt. Curtis Muhannad with the Selma Police Department, 19-year-old Corey Rabb and 18-year-old Derrick Washington have both been charged with attempted murder.

“The arrests stemmed from the June 16, 2015, investigation into the brutal assault of the victim near the intersection of Lawrence Street and Keller Avenue,” Muhannad said.

According to Muhannad, Rabb and Washington were friends with the 21-year-old victim prior to the alleged assault that left him with a dislocated jaw.

“The suspects lured the victim from his residence and then began the assault,” Muhannad said. “The victim lost consciousness but was able to flee back to his residence where his mother transported him to the emergency room.”

Muhannad said the victim was transported to a hospital in Montgomery.

“The victim was stomped in the head so severely his jaws were dislocated, and currently his mouth is wired shut,” Muhannad said.

“The victim remembers the suspects saying, ‘I outta kill you.’”

Both suspects were booked in the Dallas County Jail after they were arrested by officers with the Selma Police Department Wednesday. Muhannad said their bonds was set at $500,000.

Rabb and Washington appeared before a Dallas County district judge Thursday for a bond hearing, but the judge did not lower their bonds.

According to Muhannad, Rabb and Washington are still in custody at the county jail. Attempted murder is a class A felony and is punishable by 10 years to life in prison and up to $60,000 in fines.
