Dear editor,
As the 2015-2016 academic school year draws near I want to wish the administrators, support staff, faculty, parents and students a successful and productive year.
I recognize the important role that our educational facilities in Selma and Dallas County play in molding and shaping our communities. Education not only transforms lives but communities also.
The challenges that lie before our educational facilities are exciting but I know unequivocally our school system is eagerly ready to embrace the challenges.
As Council President my charge to each student is to approach this new academic year with an open mind determined to exceed all goals set. Once again I wish everyone a banner year. Also, let’s keep the ABC’s embedded in our head:
A – Achieve your goals, B – Believe you can excel, C – Replace cannot with can do, D – Be determined never to give up, E – Education is the driving force, F – Failure is not an option, G – Go after your goal, H – Help someone along the way, I – Trust your inner-self, J – Jesus is your source, K – Knowledge is power, L – Lead with vision, M – Make good choices, N – Never give up, O – Opportunities are rare, P – Pray for wisdom, Q- Quitting is not an option, R – Respect yourself and others, S – Study each day, T – Trials are not permanent, U – Understand you have a purpose, V – Victory is your goal, W – Work hard, X- X-ray your setbacks, Y – Yearn for success, Z – Be Zealous
Educationally yours,
Corey D. Bowie
Council President
