A Selma man was arrested on attempted murder charges Wednesday for his alleged involvement in an Easter weekend shooting that injured two people.
According to an arrest report from the Dallas County Jail, 20-year-old Kendrick Latrell Webster was arrested Wednesday morning.
Webster was charged with two counts of attempted murder, first-degree assault, shooting into an occupied building, shooting into an occupied vehicle and shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.
Webster was arraigned Thursday at the Dallas County Courthouse in front of District Judge Robert Armstrong, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.
Webster is being held at the Dallas County Jail on a combined $1 million bond, and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 8.
According to incident reports, the shooting happened outside of the Grown and Sexy Club on Washington Street on Easter Sunday.
A second suspect, 22-year-old Alphonsia Lewis, was also arrested in May for his alleged involvement in the shooting.
Lewis was charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, shooting into an occupied building, shooting into an occupied vehicle and shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.
Two women were shot when Webster and Lewis allegedly opened fire after an argument with another man.
One woman, who was shot outside the club, had a gunshot wound to the chest, and the other woman was shot inside the club in the arm when a bullet pierced the wall.
The woman that was shot outside told officers she was waiting on food with her friend when a man approached them and started talking to them. She then told officers she saw several men run to a truck and get guns. The victim said the men opened fire, shooting at the man that was talking to her and her friend.
Webster and Lewis were identified as the alleged shooters by multiple witnesses. Webster is still in custody at the Dallas County Jail, and according to Jackson, Lewis is in jail in Mobile pending a federal sentencing for a felon in possession of ammunition charge and is being held without bond.
