The Concordia College volleyball team lost its first match of the season Friday against Southern University at New Orleans 25-21, 25-16, 25-19.
Despite the loss, Concordia head coach Katasha Turner said she was proud of her team’s effort during the match.
“We came out swinging, kept hitting and a lot of energy in the first game and we just kind of went down in the second game and brought it back up in the third game, but it kind of went away from us in the very end,” Turner said.
Turner liked the energy her Hornets team brought to the match, but hopes the team will be better at finishing close sets in future matches. Turner still has some inexperience on her roster, so she is optimistic the ability to close out tight sets will come with time.
“I like the competitiveness of my girls. I have some very young players that played that already showed me what they can do,” Turner said.
Concordia continues its season Friday at the Edward Water Classic in Jacksonville, Fla.
