Deborah Ann Goodwin

Deborah Ann Goodwin, 43, resident of Selma, formerly of Plantersville, passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 1548 Dr. F.D. Reese St., Selma, with pastor Woodrow Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Plantersville Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

She is preceded in death by grandparents; Scott and Earnestine McGee; and Kenneth Golson.

Survivors include a loving mother, Mary Ann Goodwin; her father, Edward Steve Goodwin; grandmother, Louise Ferrell; three sisters, Barbara McGee, Carla (Kerwin) Goodwin-Chaney and Angelia Goodwin; two nieces Kernisha Chaney and Aaliyah Hunter; one nephew, Kevin Blevins; four uncles, Eddie Lee (Judy) McGee, Hennis (Susie) McGee, Dennis (Dorcas) McGee and Clarene (Colleen) McGee; two aunts, Jacqueline Ferrell and Gracie Jones; four great aunts, Marzell Goodwin, Helen Alexander, Annie Jean Goodwin and Mary Ann McGee; one nephew, Kevin Blevins; a special friend who was like a daughter to her Jorielle Scott Johnson; a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

Deborah was a former employee of The Selma Times-Journal, where her many talents were shown and were an asset to every department of the newspaper during her tenure. She began showcasing these talents in March 1998 – 2003 as an advertising executive, always servicing her customers with a smile. In February 2003, she served in the composing/pre-press department, where she was very dedicated and enjoyed her work as a graphic artist.

Finally, she was a reporter until 2008. Other former employers were Chrysler in Detroit, Michigan and in Selma; American Fine Wire, Selma City Schools, Wallace College and AMSTI.

Repast will be held at the Plantersville Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 480 Pecan Drive, Plantersville, AL.
