Steve McPheron

Steve McPheron, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 26, 2015, in Denver, Colorado.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31st at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Marion. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1-1:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow the funeral. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kirk Brown Funeral Home.

Steve was born in Marion on Sept. 7, 1954. Steve was a 1972 graduate of Francis Marion High School and was working for Engineering Associates in Denver at the time of his death.

Steve was married to Theda (Johnson) McPheron Keel and from that marriage his son, Stephen A. (Mac) McPheron, and daughter, Stephanie R. (McPheron) Lawson were born. On April 29, 2000, he married Vicky (Rodriguez) McPheron and son, Kyle H. McPheron, was born.

Steve enjoyed fishing, but his favorite past time was collecting anything broken (especially lawn mowers) and “tinkering” with them until he got them to work; then he would pass it on to someone who was in need of one.

Steve was kind, generous, and friendly. He always knew his neighbors and would help anyone in need. Steve loved spending time with family and friends but his greatest joy came from his children. He was so proud of all of them and spoke about them often to anyone who would listen. He had a ready smile for anyone and an infectious laugh that filled a room with joy. He impacted many lives through the years and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Steve is survived by his wife, Vicky McPheron of Denver, Colo.; sons, Stephen A. (Marilyn) McPheron of Naples, Fla. and Kyle McPheron of Denver, Colo.; daughter Stephanie R.(Justin) Lawson of Bluffton, S.C.; and grandsons Elijah and James Lawson and Clive McPheron. Steve is also survived by his father, Henry C. Weaver of Marion; sisters, Lucy (Mike) Kynard of Marion and Sue (Preacher) Price of Douglasville, Ga.; and brother, Sonny (Connie)Weaver of Demopolis; brothers-in-law, Pete (Liz) Rodriguez of Lincoln, Neb., Greg (Jane) Rodriguez of Ocean City, N.J. and Brian Armenta of Denver; and sister-in-law, Katherine Hernandez of Scottsbluff, Neb. Also by beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Carl (Bobby) and Juanita Hobson McPheron and Janelle McPheron Weaver; his brother, Carl Edward McPheron; and father and mother-in-law Pedro and Margaret Rodriguez.
