Dallas County residents who typically travel down County Road 85 between County Road 12 and County Road 4 will soon have to travel down another route.
County Road 85 will close Wednesday, Sept. 16 for repairs.
“We have a contract to repair slide failure on County Road 85 and the contract will be closing the road this Wednesday morning and there will be detour signs posted for detour routes,” said Dallas County Engineer Coosa Jones.
“It will be closed for several weeks until further notice.”
During the Dallas County Commission meeting Monday, Jones also spoke about lowering the speed limit on a segment of County Road 29 for safety measures.
Jones said the road is a two-lane road off of U.S. 80 West towards the Cahaba River and the proposed speed limit was 25 miles per hour. The commission approved the proposal.
In addition to County Road 85 having a portion closed for several weeks, two other county roads will soon be closed off for repairs.
Jones said County Road 7 will be closed sometime this fall, although he said no exact dates were known, to be repaired and resurfaced.
“It’s in the planning stage,” Jones said.
A proposal for County Road 45 was also on the agenda but Jones asked that it to deferred until the next commission meeting on Monday, Sept. 28.
