Time for Selma to return favor paid by runners in Kenya

Earlier this summer, runners in Meto, Kenya held a race to benefit Selma. Unlike traditional races, the registration for the event was a prayer for Selma and the city’s citizens. Now it’s time for the city to repay the favor with Integrity Worldwide’s upcoming races and fun run.

Though prayers will surely be appreciated, the race will also provide a way for Selma to help build wells in the poverty-stricken region.

Access to clean and dependable water is changing the way of life in the areas Integrity works in.

The race, which is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, is making its return for the sixth time but with a twist. The race is usually held at Bloch Park, but this year it will be run through downtown Selma.

Run for Kenya will include a 10K, 5K and one-mile runs, and all three will start at Arsenal Place Accelerator. The entry fee is $25 and an added $5 on the day of the race. Runners will also be able to pre-register the day before the race at Arsenal Place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. To register for the race or for more information, visit integrityworldwide.com.

Last year’s race, which was voted the department of tourism’s Selma and Dallas County Event of the Year, was a huge success with more than 500 people participating in the event. We hope to see an even larger turnout this year.
