Benghazi committee should fold ‘em

What do you do when you play your hand down without a chance of winning? Quite obviously, you fold up and get out of the game with the least damage as possible. Kenny Rogers sings a song that goes like this, “you got to know when to hold’em, know when to fold’em, know when to walk away, and know when to run.” I think the Benghazi committee would do well to listen to and take the advice of old Kenny. The last round with Hillary was clearly not their finest 11 hours, and practically assures her the Democratic nomination with a sympathetic Democratic electorate.
It seems Republicans always find a way to shoot their selves in the foot by running their mouth, or worse, before an election cycle.
Apparently, the only thing Republicans have after all this time and money is emails showing Hillary saying one thing privately and feeding something else to the public, and that embassy security was farmed out and not something she bothered to monitor. If so, the committee is not likely to clarify why four Americans were killed at Benghazi without any effort made to provide assistance. It makes you wonder just why they insisted on bringing her back before them. Hillary had previously testified and they knew her answers with the exception of the email findings on whether it was a planned terrorist attack or spontaneous demonstration because of a video tape. Surely, they didn’t think they would wrestle some confession out of her admitting some complicity or mismanagement of Benghazi? The Clintons may have not invented slickness, but they sure have perfected it.
It leaves you with the feeling of the song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and sung by Peggy Lee, Bette Midler and others entitled “Is that all There Is.” The chorus continues with, “If that is all there is, my friends, Then let’s keep dancing.” Which is what Hillary intends to do — dance right on into the White House.
However, things could be worse. If you recall in the primaries leading up to 2008, the word on the street was to vote for Obama to keep Hillary out, and we all know how that turned out. Well, this time it is Bernie and Hillary vying for the Democratic nomination. Which would you prefer, a devout Socialist or a Progressive who is not very attentive to security matters and reckless with the truth? So, you see it all comes down to choices and choices matter.
You would think Republicans would have a cake walk to the White House this time, but not so fast, my friends.
They must present a candidate acceptable to the entire party and most Independents.
The Democrats will vote Democratic regardless to who their candidate might be, so it will all depend on the Independent vote and the number of Republican defectors.
