Nancy (Nickie) Nicholson Pettus

Nancy (Nickie) Nicholson Pettus, 63, passed away from natural causes at her home in Foley on Sept. 1, 2015.
Celebration of Life service honoring the memory Nancy Nicholson Pettus will take place Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Church Street United Methodist Church in Selma, Alabama, located at 214 Church Street, Selma, Alabama 36701.
Nickie was a 1970 graduate of Parrish High School in Selma, a graduate of Birmingham Southern, and earned a nurse practitioner degree in 1981 from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
For many years she was the nurse practitioner for Dr. Charlie Flowers and the head of the OB-GYN Department at UAB Hospital where she enhanced the education and lives of countless OB-GYN doctors who studied at UAB.
Nickie was preceded in death by her father Dr. George Bryan Nicholson, mother Nancy Phifer Nicholson (later Rainer), step-father Sterling P. (Mutt) Rainer, and sister Stephanie (Lady) Nicholson Matteodo.
She is survived by her son, Robert Nicholson Adams and his daughter Adan of Birmingham, daughter Netherland Adams Daniels (Will) and their daughter Caroline of Monroeville. Brothers are Dr. George Nicholson (Kay) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Rhett Nicholson III (Mary) of Camden, AL, Dr. Phifer Nicholson (Lisa) of Plymouth, MN; Sisters Ashley Epler (Neil) of Montgomery, AL, and Elizabeth Tisdale (Marion) of Spartanburg, SC.
