A 62-year-old man was arrested Friday on charges of kidnapping and rape.

Minniefield Flenore Jr. was charged by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Selma Police Department.

The charges stem from the reported kidnapping and assault of a Selma woman.

Investigators said the victim told them Flenore grabbed her and forced her into his home, where he made her have sex with him multiple times and threatened to kill her if she tried to escape. No other details about the case, including the location of the assault and Flenore’s arrest, were available Friday.

“The victim was able to escape during a second attempt and flagged down a local passerby where she called police,” said Lt. Sam Miller with the Selma Police Department.

The victim was treated at Vaughan Regional Medical Center and later released.

Flenore was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping and was being held without bond. The police department has not said there are additional victims but it does ask anyone who may have had a similar encounter with Flenore to come to the third floor of the police department and talk with Sgt. Evelyn Ghant.
