An 81-year-old Hayneville woman died Wednesday following a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 80 in Montgomery.

Bertha Britt was pronounced dead at the scene.

At approximately 5:25 p.m., the Montgomery Police Department responded to a report of an accident on U.S. 80 and Alatex Road.

When first responders arrived on the scene, they found a crash between Britt’s 2005 Lincoln Town Car and a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

According to MPD spokeswoman Denise Barnes, a preliminary investigation shows that Britt’s Lincoln struck the Freightliner as it was turning from Alatex Road onto U.S. 80.

The accident remains under investigation.
