Chances to see Santa this weekend

The Edmundite Missions invite parents and children of preschoolers through sixth grade to come out Saturday and visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus and Santa’s helpers.
Director of Missions Chad McEachern is excited about giving back for the Christmas holiday.
“It’s one of those days where the mission gets to be a part of the community. It is great to have a day where everybody can just be happy,” McEachern said.
Festivities will be held at the Bosco Center at 1107 Griffin Ave. The event is free of charge and will start at noon and end at 1:30 p.m.
Ev Marie`s Cupcakery, located at 538 Washington St., will offer a chance for children to come out to mix, bake and decorate gingerbread cookies and cupcakes.
Children 8 to 11 should come at 11 a.m. The session for children 12 through 15 starts at 1 p.m. There is a $10 charge.
Reading is Fundamental will hold its annual Breakfast with Santa from 10 a.m. to noon at the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center, located at 211 Washington St.
Kids can anticipate their favorite Sesame Street characters to make appearances. Coordinator of RIF Nancy Sewell believes that reading is key to children’s futures.

The Selma Public Library will be hosting “Holly Jolly” celebrations on Dec 21 and 22. There will be songs, stories, arts and crafts on Monday followed by a special puppet show that will tell the story of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer on Tuesday.
