Four Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Troopers made their way to Vaughan Regional Medical Center bearing gifts to continue a 25-year-old tradition.
On Dec. 21, senior troopers Reginal King, Calvin Edwards, Chris Fails, and corporal Chris King delivered teddy bears to hospitalized children.
“Around this time of year we try to touch bases with the medical facilities to bring joy to the children who are being housed,” said Reginal King, senior trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
“It’s something we look forward to each and every year and it’s kind of our way to give back to the community.”
Each child received a fluffy, light brown bear complete with a campaign hat and a blue and white Alabama State Trooper Association shirt ensemble.
Pamela Strong said her son, Anterrius, was excited to see the Troopers and to receive a bear.
Ashley Harris, mother of Ahnyla Davis, said the teddy bear lifted her daughter’s moral.
“Not too long ago she was crying, ‘I’m ready to go home, I wanna go home.’ Her whole attitude changed,” Harris said as her daughter sat next to her playing with her bear that she promptly named “Teddy Bear.”
The troopers made their way as a group to each room until the last bear was delivered.
“I thought it was good for them to give the kids teddy bears since it’s almost Christmas,” said Jessica Brown, mother of Jaila Brown.
