Preston Odene Johnson

Preston Odene Johnson passed away Jan. 17, 2016, at the age of 81. He was born March 30, 1934, to the late Toy Jay and Maudie Smith Johnson.

Mr. Johnson ministered for 46 years and retired after 15 years of service at Overlook Hills Church of God. He also retired from R. L. Zeigler after 44 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Betty McConnell and Virgie Nell Mathis.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie Evelyn Johnson; children, Tommy (Sylvia) Johnson, Larry (Debbie) Johnson and Mandy (Ray) Barlow; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Holifield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. at Selma Church of God with the Rev. Raymond Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Charles Johnson, William Baugh, Clay Baugh, Timmy Ingram, Tony Andrews, Sr., Robert Rose, Jimmy Miller, Cysco Deese, David Strickland, Johnny Ray Harris, Artie Plummer and Tommy Swindle.
