Looks like snow will miss Selma

There’s a chance that snow will make its way through Alabama over the next couple days, but it’s not something Selma has to worry about.
While areas north of Alexander City and Tuscaloosa can expect possible light snow Friday afternoon into Saturday morning, all Selma has to look forward to in the coming days with weather is rain.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, there is a 100 percent chance of rain Thursday in the Selma-Dallas County area.
“All we’re expecting is rain,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Gerald Satterwhite. “There might be a thunderstorm Thursday afternoon into the night, but nothing severe.”
Satterwhite said rain is possible throughout the day, but the heaviest rainfall will occur later in the day.
“The heaviest is probably going to be late afternoon and into the night time hours,” Satterwhite said.
Aside from the rain, the temperature in Selma Thursday is expected to be warm for January. Satterwhite said the high Thursday is projected to reach 64 degrees Fahrenheit.
On Friday, both the chance of rain and the temperature will drop throughout the day.
The high might very well be observed at midnight. The mercury will continue to drop throughout the chilly day.
Northern Alabama can expect a 40 percent chance of up to a quarter inch of the white stuff.
“The northern part of the state will be expecting a chance for that rain to turn over to a rain-snow mix, maybe even all snow as we head into Friday night and even Saturday morning,” Satterwhite said.
