Harris H. “Sparky” Huffman Sr. passed away Feb. 9, 2016, at the age of 84. He was born July 13, 1931, to the late Frank Eugene Huffman Sr. and Elsie Mae Turner Huffman.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Ray Huffman; brothers, Frank Eugene Huffman Jr.; and his mother and father.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, JoAnn Huffman; son, Harris H. (Leah) Huffman Jr.; daughters, Kathy Smitherman, Karen Watters and Kim (Robert) Edwards; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Walter “Butch” Huffman; sisters, Minnie Ruth Smith and Faye Marie Holcomb; and faithful companion, Buck.

Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Pastor Noah Reid officiating. Interment will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Randy Pugh, John Hatfield, Mike Grantham, Jimmy Caffey, Barry Hood and Calvin Edwards. Honorary pallbearers are The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, The Downtowner Breakfast Group, Cecil Strickland and Jeff Fancher.
