Selma University splits doubleheader with Tuskegee

The Selma University baseball team opened its season by splitting a doubleheader against Tuskegee Wednesday in Montgomery.
Tuskegee held off Selma University in the first contest for an 11-8 win, but Selma bounced back in the second game for a 4-3 win.
In game one, Selma pitcher Blaine Stacener allowed four earned runs in four innings as Tuskegee took a 6-1 lead. Selma responded with seven total runs in the fourth and fifth inning, with Undray Lawrence leading the way with three RBIs. Tremayne Hopps also had two RBIs for the Bulldogs.
Tuskegee’s Daniel Croom was credited with the win after allowing no earned runs and throwing a strikeout in two innings.
In the second game, Selma’s Devon Pedro brought in two RBIs as the Bulldogs got their first win of the year. Bishop Harris and Darrell Watkins also brought in runs for Selma.
Bulldogs pitcher Taylor Page picked up the win after allowing only one earned run in two innings pitched. Harris was credited with the save.
