A fund has been set up at First Cahawba Bank to benefit Dallas County Commissioner Curtis Williams, who lost his home in a fire last week.
Commissioner Roy Moore announced the fund at the end of Monday’s commission meeting.
“It’s going to be a long haul. The only thing they have left is what they had with them. If you see fit, you can come by and contribute,” Moore said.
Williams attended Monday’s meeting, four days after he and his wife Jerolene lost their home off County Road 162. The midday fire remains under investigation, but preliminary investigators believe faulty wiring in the attic may have caused the blaze. The home, as well as a truck parked outside, were both considered total losses.
Nobody was injured in the fire or response from several departments, including Beloit, Orrville, Potter station and Selma.
