Two men in their 20s have died following a Sunday shooting near the intersection of Marie Foster Street and Selma Avenue.
The Selma Police Department responded to the double homicide around midnight. The victims have been identified as T.J. Shelton and A.J. Lee, according to District Attorney Michael Jackson.
The two men were in a red Chevrolet Camaro belonging to Shelton’s brother when the shooting occurred.
Lee, 27, from Sardis, was found near the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shelton, 29, from Selma, was found in the driver’s seat and was transported to Baptist South in Montgomery, where he died around 6 a.m.
Selma Police Chief John Brock believes the victims or the car they were riding in was targeted. Shell casings found at the scene show an assault rifle was used.
Investigators are asking the public to come forward with any information they may have by calling Crime Stoppers at (334) 874-2588 or 1 (800) 422-7463.
“Right now we’ve got several witnesses, but we just need more information,” Brock said.
