The Selma Police Department continues to investigate the Valentine’s Day shooting as well as multiple recent incidents.

 

27-year-old man shot in Woodrow East subdivision

Police responded to a gunshot victim just after 1 a.m. Tuesday morning on the 2100 block of Fox Hollow Avenue.

Lt. Sam Miller said a patrol officer was patrolling the Woodrow East Subdivision when he saw a vehicle drive up with its emergency lights on. The driver of the vehicle informed the officer his friend had been shot and the residence had been riddled with bullets.

Investigators said at least 10 shots were fired into the home.

The victim was shot once in the right thigh and was transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment.

According to Miller, the victim stated he did not call police because he did not know the number.

The shooting remains under investigation.

 

58-year-old woman shot on front porch

Selma police respond to a gunshot victim on 2200 block of Old Montgomery Highway Tuesday

morning between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m.

Investigators said the victim, 58, was sitting on her porch smoking a cigarette when she heard two gunshots then realized she had been shot.

The victim’s daughter, 37, ran out of the house after hearing the gunfire and found her mother had been shot through both legs and in the left hand.

The victim was received at Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The shooting remains under investigation.

 

Woman arrested for stabbing boyfriend with steak knife

Early Sunday, authorities arrested Theara Cox, 46, on the 100 block of Alabama Avenue in response to a stabbing victim.

During interview, Cox admitted to stabbing her unidentified boyfriend, 47, with a steak knife around 7 a.m.

The victim was transported to University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital and is in stable condition according to police.

Cox was charged for second-degree domestic violence assault and given a $30,000 bond.

 

Man shot outside package store

Police respond to a shooting outside a package store on the 1100 block of Broad Street Saturday evening.

A Selma man, 23, was shot once in the foot between 8 and 8:15 p.m. He was received at Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment and was later released.

The store clerk reported to authorities he heard either five or six shots fired. Seven shell casings were recovered from the scene.

Video surveillance shows the victim being shot. Authorities said the victim did not know the shooter but could identify him if seen.

The shooting remains under investigation.

 

Woman arrested for setting boyfriend on fire

Lakeybreyonna Parker, 21, set her unidentified boyfriend, 22, on fire over verbal altercation Tuesday, March 1, around 9 p.m. on the 1800 block of L. L. Anderson Avenue.

Investigators said Parker picked up a container she knew contained gasoline and began shaking it when the cap flew off and spewed gasoline onto the victim. Afterward, she struck a lighter near the victim, igniting him on fire.

The victim was transported to UAB burn center.

He is currently in a medically induced coma.

Parker charged with domestic violence first offence and arson with a $50,000 bond.

 

Valentine’s day shooting suspect identified

On Feb. 14, Joseph Mack, 62, was shot outside the Grown and Sexy club on Washington Street between 1 and 1:30 a.m.

Selma Police has identified Ricky Stuttles, 26, as the shooter. Stuttles is a black male weighting 150 pounds and five feet and 11 inches tall. He is considered armed and dangerous and suspected to still be in the Selma area.

Miller said Stuttles is wanted by other agencies and is relieving those efforts to focus on a recent double homicide.

“Because other outside agencies have expressed interest in him, federally, we are letting them hunt him down for us,” he said.
