A Selma man was shot in the foot shortly after midnight Thursday.

The Selma Police Department responded to a shooting with injury call between midnight and 12:30 a.m. The incident happened on the 1100 block of Philpot Avenue.

The victim, a 40-year-old man, told police he was on his porch talking to his neighbor.

“He heard several shots and ran for cover,” said Lt. Sam Miller.

Investigators said the victim was shot once in the left foot and was transported to a hospital in Montgomery.

The neighbor was not injured.

Authorities said there are currently no suspects or motives for the shooting.

“It was probably just a stray bullet that hit him in the foot,” Miller said.

The shooting remains under investigation.
