Morgan hosting playoff game

Morgan Academy will host a playoff baseball game Friday for the first time in seven years.
The Senators (18-10) will host Fort Dale in a doubleheader that will start at 2 p.m. If the teams split on Friday, a third game in the series would be played at Morgan Academy at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Morgan head coach Jeremy Carter said hosting a playoff game shows the progress the team has made over the last few years. Last year, Morgan made it to the second round of the Alabama Independent School Association playoffs for the first time in Carter’s time coaching at the school.
Two wins this weekend will help the Senators repeat that feat.
“We’ve gotten better every year,” Carter said. “We’ve increased our winning percentage every year. The kids are excited and we’re getting baseball excited around here. We’re trying to build the vibe back up.”
Morgan and Fort Dale have not played this year.
“It has its pros and cons,” Carter said. “You have to call around and do some scouting on them and find out what kind of lineup they use.”
Senior recognition for the Senators’ seniors will also be held Friday.
