Meadowview alumni coming home

Those who have graduated from Meadowview Christian School over the last 45 years will reunite with old classmates this weekend while raising money for the school.
More than 300 people have registered for Saturday’s Founders Day reunion, an idea Committee Chair Darren McGilberry and others thought could bring together alumni and current students to recognize the history of the school.
“We came up with a board of directors about a few months ago. Being that this is the 45th year, we wanted to have a Founders Day Reunion with some fun events,” McGilberry said.
A steak dinner will be held. Tickets are $100 for dinner for two, a chance to win $10,000 in a drawing and all access to other activities.
“We’re having former coaches, athletes and the founding board members of the school who are still living as guest speakers,” McGilberry said.
“We want many alumni and friends of MCS over the past 45 years to come back and participate.”
There will also be a silent auction. McGilberry said he wanted to give people a chance to get to see some old friends and raise money for the school at the same time.
The money would help with the school’s scholarship fund and improvements to the school.
There will be an open house and tours from 4 to 6 p.m. Dinner will immediately follow.
“Our school is growing. Things are looking up, and we want to keep our momentum going and get our alumni and all of our supporters involved so we can continue to grow and help these kids,” McGilberry said.
McGilberry has plans to have another reunion in five years, when the school will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The dinner will be Saturday in the gymnasium at Meadowview Christian, located at 1512 Old Orrville Road in Selma. People can still buy tickets and reserve tables by calling (334) 872-8448 or (334) 608-3456.
