Arrest made in stabbing

The Selma Police Department has made an arrest in a recent stabbing.
On Thursday, April 28, The Selma Police Department Detective Division found and arrested 46-year-old Robert Lee Mitchell who was wanted in connection to a stabbing on the 1700 block of First Avenue two days earlier.
He was charged one count first-degree assault with a $50,000 bond. The victim was airlifted to Tuscaloosa for treatment.
On the heels of that arrest, the department responded to a shooting overnight Sunday, when a 76-year-old man was shot in the foot through the wall of his home.
Police responded to a gunshot victim on the 1500 block of Marie Foster just after 2:30 a.m.
Authorities said the victim was asleep when awoken by gunfire.
“It entered the front wall of his residence and entered his right foot,” said Lt. Sam Miller with the Selma Police Department. .
The victim was transported Vaughan Regional Medical Center by ambulance and later released.
Investigators believe the shooting was unintentional and that the man was struck by a stray bullet.
Miller said the type of gun used is undetermined.
