Concordia College Alabama is partnering with the Selma Housing Authority to host a sports camp for youth in the city between the ages of 10-17.
The camp will be titled “All Day Sports” and will take place June 7 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m on Concordia’s campus. It’ll include training in soccer, football, baseball, softball, track and field, volleyball and cheerleading.
“As a community college, it is always our goal to do something in the community,” said Donald Jefferson, the college’s vice president of student services. “Athletics is one of the areas that we feel like we can definitely make a contribution in, giving these kids the opportunity to get first hand instruction from our coaching staff.”
Jefferson said there will be eight different stations at the camp and the students will be rotated through them.
“We will talk a little about life and education, making sure they are taking care of their studies and things like that,” Jefferson said.
The camp is free and will include lunch and a T-shirt for all participants. Pre-registration forms can be picked up at Concordia College Alabama’s campus and more information is available on the college’s website at www.ccal.edu.
The deadline for pre-registration is Thursday, May 26.
