A Selma man is recovering after being shot over Memorial Day weekend.
At 1 a.m. on Memorial Day, Selma Police Department officers responded to a call of a gunshot victim who came into Vaughan Regional Medical Center’s emergency room.
The victim, a 48-year-old male, was shot in east Selma. The man was shot through his left arm and into his stomach, according to authorities.
Investigators are still trying to determine where the shooting took place.
“We do not have an active crime scene as of yet,” said Lt. Sam Miller.
The victim approached an unidentified person at a gas station and informed him he had been shot. The person transported the victim to Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Afterward, the victim was airlifted to the trauma center at University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.
Authorities said the victim is in stable condition as of Monday morning.
“He’s probably going to have multiple surgeries,” Miller said. “It apparently messed up his intestines.”
The victim said he did not know the shooter, according to investigators.
