Orrville will be having its second annual Fourth of July program and fireworks show Monday.
That means all three Dallas County municipalities will have fireworks on Independence Day.
“We’ll just have a short patriotic program with patriotic songs and welcome the people for coming out,” said Orrville mayor Louvenia Lumpkin.
The program will kick off the event at 7:30 p.m. The fireworks show will immediately follow at 8 p.m. The show will be held at the Orrville Community Center.
Lumpkin said she is looking forward to providing a good time for residents of all ages, and hopes this year will be better than the last.
“Last time we had a lot of rain, but it didn’t stop the firework show. We still had a really great turnout,” Lumpkin said. “We are looking for a bigger turnout this year.”
Selma and Valley Grande have also made plans to celebrate the national holiday.
The weekend of events for Selma will begin Friday with the second annual White Linen Affair at ArtsRevive’s Carneal Cultural Arts Center, located at 3 Church Street. The event is hosted by the city of Selma and Main Street Selma.
The evening will include live entertainment, food and drinks. Guests are required to wear white to enter. Admission is free.
On Monday, the city of Selma will be providing a laser and fireworks show at Memorial Stadium beginning at 8:15 p.m.
Following the show, residents are invited to stay out for an evening of Blues and R&B, featuring The Mighty Ralph at the St. James Hotel. The concert will be from 8:30 p.m. until midnight.
The same evening, Valley Grande will have a fireworks show at the Valley Grande City Park beginning at 9 p.m. Before the show, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to play various games and activities such as a rock-climbing wall.
