A woman was robbed at gunpoint Sunday night at a Selma carwash.
The Selma Police Department responded to a robbery at a carwash located at the intersection of Church Street and Chestnut Jr. Boulevard around 10 p.m.
Investigators said a 38-year-old woman reported she was at the carwash with her daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren when two unidentified men approached her vehicle.
The suspects were wearing ski masks and were armed with handguns, the victim told investigators.
One suspect approached the victims and demanded they surrender their items.
The suspects fled the scene after taking approximately $300 and a cell phone.
No injuries were reported.
“Be aware of your surroundings,” said Lt. Sam Miller. “I’m not going to say this is an isolated incident, but be aware of your surroundings.”
Miller said during financially difficult times of the year, such as the beginning of the school year or Christmas, there is generally an increase of crimes.
Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the detective division at 874-2125.
