What a difference a week makes for Ellwood Christian.
One week after losing by 26, the Eagles’ (1-1) outplayed Francis Marion in the fourth quarter. Derrick Dixon caught a 50-yard touchdown to give Ellwood a 22-14 lead and the Eagles’ defense later held on a two-point try that would’ve tied the game.
“It shows they can play,” said Ellwood Christian Mike Stokes. “We did a lot of work and got prepared and played a real good football game.”
Tyler Ellis and Malachi Washington also scored touchdowns for the Eagles. All three were pass receptions.
Ellwood trailed 14-0 in the game before tying the score at 14-14 at halftime.
The Eagles (1-1) play their first home game of the season next week against Highland Home.
