The Dallas County Master Gardeners will host a lecture on herbal plants and forage Monday, Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Alabama Farmers Co-Op.
Dewayne Allday, a herbalist that works a contractor in Selma, will be the guest speaker.
“He’s coming to talk to us about medicinal herbs and the benefits we can get from those,” said Tina Lancaster, the president of the Dallas County Master Gardeners Association.
Allday was born in Marengo County. He began learning of herbs through nature and books during his youth.
Light refreshments will be served and they’ll all be herb based. Handouts and recipes will available for those that attend.
Admission is free and is open to the public.
Lancaster said September’s event is just part of the projects the group is currently working on.
“The group itself had actually become a little dormant and we are trying to revitalize it and become more involved on the local level and the state level,” Lancaster said. “We have a lot of projects going on in the local area that we are working on on a regular basis.”
The Central Alabama Farmer’s Co-Op is located at 2519 U.S. Highway 80 in Selma.
