Ellwood can’t overcome slow first half

Friday night was a tale of two halves for Ellwood Christian.

The Eagles (1-3) lost to Loachapoka 42-0 Friday, but didn’t allow a single point in the second half.

“We could’ve scored five or six touchdowns. We had the ball down in the red zone, but couldn’t punch it in,” said Ellwood Christian coach Mike Stokes. “It just wasn’t a good night period.”

He said he’s hoping to build off Friday’s second half.

“Two quarters does not win a football game. We’ve got to play four quarters and we’ve got to get a little tougher down in the trenches,” Stokes said.

Ellwood hosts No. 1 ranked Maplesville next week in Selma.
