Three inmates escape from Dallas County Jail

Three inmates overpowered a corrections officer and escaped from the Dallas County Jail on Friday night.
One of the men, Michael Christian, 46, twice escaped from the jail within a month in late 2014.
In addition to Christian, Jeremy Swann, 31, and Derrick Washington Jr., 19, also escaped, according to authorities.
Swann was captured Saturday in the Burnsville area around 1 p.m. He has been charged with escape and assault.
Capt. Mike Granthum with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said the three inmates overpowered a guard between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. by throwing something in his eyes.
“They overpowered a guard inside the cell block and were able to take control of the keys from him, and they were able to release themselves,” Granthum said.
Granthum said the sheriff’s department had information Friday that the trio was in the Burnsville community but were unable to track them down. On Saturday morning, Granthum received calls from people who had sighted Swann.
“He was on the railroad tracks in the Burnsville community,” Granthum said.
Christian escaped from the county jail twice in late 2014 by climbing through the jail’s ceiling and dropping into unsecured areas. After the first escape, he had his trustee status revoked and was put on a higher security level. Christian is in the jail for rape, sodomy, burglary, theft and the additional two escape charges.
Swann was arrested in August 2014 along with his wife Amanda Swann and charged with the repeated rape of an underage female.
Washington was arrested in June 2015 and charged with attempted murder in the assault of a Selma man that was stomped in the head so severely his jaw had to be wired shut.
