Ellwood Christian Academy hosted Maplesville, the top ranked team in Class 1A, Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

The Red Devils lived up to the billing, jumping out to a 56-0 halftime lead and shutting out the Eagles 63-0.

Maplesville took the opening kickoff back for a score, which set the tone for the evening.

On the Eagles second snap, quarterback Taylor Ellis was intercepted.

On the next snap, Dunlap ran in from 8 yards out to put Maplesville up 14-0.

Ellwood went three and out on its next possession but was given new life when Derrick Dixon recovered a Maplesville fumble during the punt.

The Eagles couldn’t capitalize though and were picked off by Timothy Bradley. The game quickly got away from the Eagles after that. Dunlap put on a show for the Red Devils on both sides of the ball, scoring two more rushing touchdowns with an interception between scores. He would add a fourth and final score in the second quarter.

Ellwood Christian will play at A.L. Johnson next week.
