R.B. Hudson’s Kenterrius Carter broke four tackles and rumbled down the visitors sideline for a score on the Bulldogs first offensive play of the game.

Carter’s run was 52 yards,and it set a tone for the rest of the game. On homecoming, the Bulldogs routed county rival Tipton 36-0.

“This team this year may be better than the team last year,” said R.B. Hudson coach Eugene Foster. “We looked real good for the second game.”

If that’s the case, it’d be bad news for the rest of the opponents on R.B. Hudson’s schedule. The Bulldogs (2-0) lost only one game last season and have their eyes set on running the table this year.

Only four starters return off of last year’s team, but R.B. Hudson showed there is still plenty of talent left.

“I didn’t think we’d be here at this time or playing this good,” Foster said. “The passing game, the running game, it all came together.”

Carter scored the game’s opening touchdown, but it was R.B. Hudson quarterback Javonte Stubb that had the night’s biggest highlights.

Stubb had two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs’ offense. He had touchdown runs of 63 yards and 3 yards to put R.B. Hudson up 24-0 at halftime, and then showed off his arm in the second half.

Stubb threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Christopher Carter in the third quarter to make it 30-0 Hudson.

On the last play of the third quarter, Stubbs connected with Keldric Carter for a 68-yard touchdown. Stubbs aired the ball out and hit Carter right in stride on the play.

“The quarterback, he can throw, he can run,” Foster said. “He’s a triple threat. He’s a very good quarterback with good people around him.”

Things didn’t go as well on the other sideline. Tipton struggled to move the ball consistently and also lost a player to an injury.

Samuel Brooks was tackled on a kickoff return and was taken away in an ambulance. Tipton coach Courvoisea Fails said Brooks knocked his knee out of place.

“When I saw it from the sideline, I thought it was broken but it wasn’t fortunately,” Fails said. “I’m praying everything works out for him. He goes hard every play, so praying for the best for him, but I’m sure everything will work out.”

Fails said Tipton (1-2) will go back to the drawing board and try to get better as the season continues.

“I didn’t see the fight in them that I should’ve seen, but we’ll go tomorrow and make some adjustments,” Fails said. “We saw some things that had some success. Our lineman, they area really young, so we will have the whole offense back next year. It’s kind of rocky right now, but it’ll work out.”

Tipton plays Keith at Southside High School on Oct. 4. R.B. Hudson will host Camden on Sept. 27.
