Quarterback Club to host family night

The Selma Quarterback Club has a special night coming up on Oct. 24. On that night, the club will host Family Night and will welcome Mike Lutzenkirchen, executive director of the Lutzie 43 Foundation, to speak.
Lutzenkirchen is the father of former Auburn University tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident in 2014. Philip played on Auburn’s 2010 national championship team and had a brief NFL career.
He was a blossoming star, whose life was cut short. Since his death, Philip’s father has told his son’s story to schools, churches and other organizations.
Earlier this year he spoke to students at Morgan Academy.
Now, he’ll be speaking to members of the quarterback club. Recognizing how important the message could be for students in the community, the club is offering discount tickets for that night.
Guest tickets can be bought in advance for $25 for adults and $15 for children and can be purchased by contacting W. Forrest Hatfield at wfh63@bellsouth.net.
While the club is focused around football, its main purpose is to award scholarships to area students. The QB Club awards five scholarships to local athletes each year. The scholarships are awarded based on academics, participation in school and community activities and financial need.
A ticket to family night includes a meal and the chance to hear Lutzenkirchen speak. Plus, it’s a way to help students in the Selma and Dallas County community.
