The Dallas County volleyball team accomplished one of its preseason goals Thursday at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
The Hornets won a regional game for the first time in school history, beating Citronelle 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 25-10. Dallas County was eliminated from the South Super Regional later in the day, losing to Briarwood Christian 25-10, 25-13, 25-15.
“We’ve had a program for seven years, and we’ve made it to super regionals seven straight years and we finally got over that first game hump,” said Dallas County coach Linda Moore. “I’m very proud of them for that.”
Moore said the team set that as one of its goals during the summer.
“They’ve been working hard. They know how they felt last year when they lost in super regionals and they didn’t want to have that same reaction,” Moore said. “They worked hard and played hard today, never got down and kept their composure. That’s what brought us through.”
